ROLE

Product Designer, second designer and 12th hire [confirm title]

TEAM

CEO, head of product, [X] engineers, one other designer, and a sales team pulled from dealerships

TIMELINE

March 2022 to [end month, year]

COMPANY

Revvable, seed stage SaaS for powersports dealers. $5M seed led by Tiger Global, 2022

The problem

Powersports dealers were running their sales floor on about six different tools, plus a lot of paper. Customer info, financing, and deal status all lived in separate places, so records went stale and nobody had the full story on a buyer. The front door to most deals was a long paper credit app that buyers often gave up on halfway.

Key decisions

01

Build around the person, not the deal

I first made the opportunity (one bike, one deal) the center of the product, since that’s how dealers talked about their work. Our advisor dealers kept asking for the bigger picture: past bikes, credit, every conversation. So I rebuilt the main page around the contact, with their deals, credit, and history all on one screen.

02

One thread for every touchpoint

A deal passes through a salesperson, a manager, and finance, and each one was checking a different tool to see what happened last. I put texts, emails, internal notes, and payment requests into a single timeline on the contact. Anyone picking up the deal could read the thread top to bottom and know where things stood.

03

Break up the credit app and save the lead early

The paper credit app is a wall of fields, and buyers bailed when they saw it. I split it into short steps with one topic per screen and tap to choose answers instead of typing. The contact and opportunity get created after step 3, so the dealer can follow up even if the buyer never finishes.

Results

  • Shipped the contact page, activity thread, and step by step credit app. Dealers text buyers a link or put the app on their own website

  • By fall 2023, while I was still there, the credit app was running with hundreds of dealers. Revvable now says 350+, including RideNow

  • The step 3 save paid off. One GM said “It only took 3 days for us to capture a lead via the incomplete app,” then sold a bike to a buyer who had never set foot in the store. Another dealer’s finance manager credits several closed deals to the same feature

  • The single activity thread is still how Revvable sells its CRM: every quote, message, payment, and note on the customer’s profile, no matter who worked the deal
